Indian Weddings in Spain: Passion, Colour and Celebration in Perfect Harmony
Terracotta and crimson. Flamenco rhythms and dhol beats. A mandap framed by orange blossom in an Andalusian courtyard. India and Spain - two of the world's great cultures of passion and celebration - were made for each other.
Spain is one of the fastest-growing destinations for Indian weddings in Europe, and the reasons are compelling. The country offers gorgeous year-round warmth, an incredible variety of landscapes and venues, and a culture that genuinely understands the art of celebration. As a specialist Indian wedding planner, I love working with couples who choose Spain, because the country has a spirit that amplifies everything an Indian wedding is.
Plus, it’s where my family is from and where I’ve spent many years! So you’re getting a planner that truly loves the place more than anywhere else in the world.
Why Spain for Your Indian Wedding?
Spain combines almost everything you could want from a destination wedding location. The weather is excellent, particularly from April to October across most of the country. The venues are extraordinary, whether you want Moorish palaces or Balearic sea-view estates. The food culture is world-class, with caterers and vendors experienced in high-end events. And Spain is highly accessible from all over the world.
There's also something about the Spanish temperament that suits an Indian wedding beautifully. Spain has its own deeply embedded culture of multi-generational family celebration of late nights, long tables, dancing, noise and love. Your extended family will feel right at home.
The Best Regions in Spain for Indian Weddings
Andalusia
The spiritual heart of Spanish romance. Andalusia, encompassing Seville, Granada, Córdoba and the surrounding region, offers a landscape and architectural heritage unlike anywhere else in Europe. The Moorish influence creates architecture and garden design that resonates deeply with Indian aesthetics: intricate tilework, water features, courtyard spaces, arched doorways. Spanish Andalusia and Indian wedding culture share more DNA than you might expect.

Mallorca
The most popular of the Balearic Islands for weddings, Mallorca combines Mediterranean sea views, rural fincas (farmhouses), mountain scenery and luxury resort properties. It's ideal for larger Indian weddings where you want guests to have a full holiday experience, and the island has excellent infrastructure for high-end events. If you’re looking at Mallorca, you’re definitely looking at budgets between £ 250k and £ 500k.
Ibiza
Ibiza has evolved well beyond its club culture reputation - the island now offers extraordinary luxury villa estates and boutique venues that are ideal for Indian celebrations. For couples who want their sangeet to genuinely feel like the best night of their lives, Ibiza has the venues and the energy to deliver.
Costa Brava & Catalonia
Northern Spain's rugged coastline and medieval towns offer a more understated architectural beauty. The Empordà region in particular has extraordinary masies (farmhouse estates) that are ideal for intimate to mid-size Indian weddings. Barcelona is also an extraordinary city for a wedding backdrop.
Malaga & Costa del Sol
For luxury and warmth, Malaga remains one of Europe's premium wedding destinations. The venue infrastructure for large, high-end events is exceptional, and the combination of mountain backdrop and Mediterranean sea creates a truly spectacular setting.
Planning a Multi-Day Indian Wedding in Spain
Day 1: Mehndi & Haldi
Spain's outdoor culture makes it ideal for daytime ceremonies. A mehndi in an Andalusian courtyard or a Mallorcan finca garden, under dappled shade, with the scent of orange blossom in the air - it’s calling you!
Day 2: Sangeet
Spanish evenings are long and warm, which is perfect for sangeet celebrations. An outdoor sangeet in Spain, starting as the sun goes down and running until the early hours, with that extraordinary warm Spanish night air, few things compare.
Day 3: Ceremony & Reception
Spain's venue variety means your ceremony can be anything from a Moorish courtyard ceremony in Seville to a clifftop exchange in Ibiza. The reception dinner typically runs late into the night, which in Spain is entirely normal and expected.
Practical Considerations for an Indian Wedding in Spain
• Climate: Spain is generally reliable between April and October, but the interior can be extremely hot in July and August. Coastal and northern venues are cooler in peak summer. I always recommend May, September and October as the ideal dates to my clients.
• Catering: I work with specialist South Asian caterers who are located in Spain, ensuring authentic food that matches the scale and significance of the event. I’ve recently started working with a new caterer in Spain who creates fusion Indian/European/Mexican cuisine - super creative!
• Accessibility: Spain has so many direct flights from all over the world every single day. It’s a great base for your wedding as there’s so much for your guests to go and explore post-wedding.
